Civil society facilitation for development of citizen-centered National Strategy for Transitional Justice in Kosovo

Through 18 months-long action Integra, New Social Initiative (NSI) and PAX, International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) and the Division for Transitional Justice will facilitate thoroughly the process of developing a National Strategy for Transitional Justice in Kosovo. In order to respond to actual societal needs and is considered legitimate, the strategic document will be inclusive and citizen-centered. To achieve this the process of drafting the National Strategy for Transitional Justice in Kosovo by the expert Working Group, will be complemented with and informed by a set of project activities that will facilitate public dialogue on this issue and its importance.

The expected results of this project are

  • A bottom-up, inclusive and victims-centered National Strategy on Transitional Justice facilitated thoroughly by civil society organizations, and submitted to the Government for approval;
  • Improved understanding and public debate on the National Strategy on Transitional Justice and its importance in the processes of dealing with the past by the interest groups;
  • Creating space to understand ‘the other’ and stimulate positive societal transformation.

Project duration: 18 months (1st May 2021 – 31st October 2022)

The project is supported by the Embassy of Netherlands in Kosovo.
