Civil Society Core Group Expert Consultation

Civil Society Core Group Expert Consultation

On November 13, a meeting was held with representatives of civil society, as part of the project ”Civil Society Framework for a National Strategy on Dealing with the Past in Kosovo” – a 1-year project by New Social Initiative (NSI) and Integra that will bring together a group of Kosovan civil society experienced in the field, to jointly develop a Framework for the National Strategy on Dealing with the Past for Kosovo.

NSI and Integra formed the CSCG composed of representatives of local civil society organizations and academia experienced on the topic, incl. minority representation. Their role is to jointly analyze the strengths and gaps of previous and current DwP initiatives in Kosovo and identify the parameters for a context-specific National Strategy for DwP in Kosovo. They’ll advise on what communities to include in the citizen focus groups and will be engaged for review of the findings, joint advocacy, and the closing event.

This CSO-designed framework would be the first step towards a full-fledged Strategy that would put Kosovo on a path toward the reconciliation and normalization of relations between communities. The final document will be used by the Civil Society Core Group on DwP for public campaign and advocacy to generate support for a full-fledged National Strategy on Dealing with the Past in Kosovo that responds to societal needs and will be used for public outreach and advocacy initiatives with political parties in Kosovo and decision-makers on both central and international levels.

*The project is supported by the U.S. Embassy.
