Inclusion of women at the negotiating table: Six round-table discussions organized throughout Kosovo
How to include more women at the negotiating table? Who could these women be? How many have there been so far and what has been their contribution? These are some of the questions we have asked over the past two weeks to roundtable participants in six cities in Kosovo.
Over 120 men and women from Severna Mitrovica/Mitrovica Veriore, Gračanica/Graçanicë, Prishtinë/Priština, Prizren, Uroševac/Ferizaj, and Gjilan/Gnjilane participated in these discussions as part of the Inclusion of Women at the Negotiating Table project, implemented by NSI with the financial support of the Office of the EU Special Representative in Kosovo.
Earlier in July, we launched this project at an event in Pristina attended by the European Union Special Representative in Kosovo, Tomáš Szunyog, while at the end of the same month we organized a lecture on the EU Gender Action Plan (GAP).
By the end of this month, we will organize another panel discussion and lecture on the women, peace, and security agenda, which will be attended by high representatives of the international community in Kosovo and local experts.
In September, we will publish a report that will summarize recommendations for higher inclusion of women in the negotiation processes, that came out of all these activities.
