Statement: Klan Kosova Case

As member organizations of the Human Rights Network (HRN), we strongly condemn the latest decision of the Appeal Commission of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MINT) to close the Trading Company “Klan Kosova” LLC, an independent media.

The Constitution of Kosovo and the applicable legislation guarantee the freedom of media in Kosovo. The decision of the Government of Kosovo violates the core values of the Kosovo Constitution, and it is clearly an institutional attack towards democracy and free speech. Such an approach is unacceptable and is against values and principles of democratic societies.

Human Rights Network calls on the judiciary to endorse the legality in the Klan Kosova case through a fair and independent judicial process and to restore the democratic values in our country.

HRN further calls all activists, citizens of Kosovo, and the international community to stand and raise their voices against arbitrary decisions of the Government of Kosovo.
