On May 15th, 2023, Kosovo’s Ministry of Justice published a draft of the Strategy for Transitional Justice on the public consultation platform konsultimet.rks.
New Social Initiative (NSI) participated in the consultation process related to this document, among other things, by organizing public discussions with members of the Serbian and other non-majority communities in Kosovo so that the views and needs of these communities are also included in the document.
Unfortunately, the draft strategy published by the Ministry of Justice ignored the suggestions and comments of both New Social Initiative and members of non-majority communities expressed at public consultations.
The publicly available draft of the Strategy for Transitional Justice does not reflect the views of New Social Initiative and the expressed views of members of non-majority communities in Kosovo. It is a biased and ethnocentric document that does not embody the principles of transitional justice that it refers to, so it cannot be claimed that representatives of non-majority communities participated in the drafting of this document.
