Let’s save the Planet!
The Earth Day is approaching, which is celebrated on April 22, so we invite you to join us to mark this day under the slogan “Save the planet”.
The marking will begin today, April 19, as a week of activism marking the occasion.
To mark the occasion NGO CBM, with partners Youth Initiative for Human Rights Kosovo and the New Social Initiative, as part of the project “Reconciliation and Transformation of Conflict”, which is supported by the American people through USAID in Kosovo, are organizing a week of activism.
Namely, from Monday, April 19th until Thursday, April 22nd, 12 trees will be donated to 7 Mitrovica region municipalities, as a modest contribution but an important reflection of the importance of environmental issues. The planting will be done by the informal group of citizens from 7 Mitrovica region municipalities. The planting is planned in agreement with municipalities, in order to determine a suitable place, and it will be done in the following days:
April 19 – planting in Leposavić and Zvečan
April 20 – planting in Zubin Potok,
April 21 – planting in Vushtrri and Skenderaj
April 22 – planting in southern and northern Mitrovica
On Thursday, to officially mark the date of April 22, the ceremony, with the participation of panellists:
• g. Hysen Durmishi – Deputy Minister, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Physical Planning
• Ms. Zorica Timotijević – expert in ecology, environmental protection and spatial planning, Leposavić municipality
• g. Omar Siddique – Head of Office and Chief Technical Adviser, UN Habitat Kosovo
• gđa. Mrika Nikqi – Environmental activist & the youngest female in the world to climb all the Seven Summits
• Jelena Đokić – Senior Lecturer for the courses in Environmental Management at IBCM College;
• Albana Berisha – Environmental activist
