Exhibition “All Our Tears” opens on Tuesday in Strasbourg, France

Following its showings in Pristina, Belgrade, and Skopje, the All Our Tears exhibition is now making its way to historic city of Strasbourg, France at the Council of Europe – Palais de l’Europe.

The opening will be on the 6th of June 2023, from 17:00, at the gallery in the Palais de l’Europe (space B) and will be open for visitors until the 30th of June.

Our exhibition was internally selected by the Arts Club of the Council of Europe’s Amicale, supported by Stefan Manevski from Kumanovo who is working for the CoE’s Anti-discrimination Department.

This unique exhibition is dedicated to the stories of victims of wars in the region. The goal of the installation is to acquaint the general public with the stories and make a plea for support for the victims and other affected groups in the region in their pursuit of truth and justice.

The exhibition consists of 34 original photographs, taken by four photographers in various places in Serbia, Kosovo and North Macedonia. The photographers: Arbnora Memeti, Nake Batev, Atdhe Mulla and Borislav Pešić.

The stories represent several aspects of the wars in the former Yugoslavia – family photos of missing persons, sites of atrocities, mass graves, internally-displaced people and memorials, but also the lingering consequences of the conflict that are still felt today, showing all the tragedy and complexity of the war.

The process of creation is done in cooperation with associations of families of the missing and deceased from Serbia and Kosovo, as well as families of deceased civilians and IDPs from North Macedonia, with the aim to open space for new opportunities and joint initiatives when it comes to building peace and reconciliation in the region.

A collection of evocative photographs and their accompanying descriptions in the All Our Tears book is also available for exploration on our website.

The exhibition is part of the project “Strengthening Inclusive Victim Voices, Transforming Narratives” funded by the EU, and implemented by the consortium consisting of Peace Action (N. Macedonia), Civic Initiatives (Serbia), Integra (Kosovo) and New Social Initiative (Kosovo), with the support of PAX (The Netherlands) and ICTJ (USA).
